Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating powered industrial trucks to move, load, unload, store, and transport raw materials, finished goods, and production supplies throughout the facility. This position plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, efficiently, and safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers.
- Transport raw materials, work-in-process materials, and finished products throughout the facility.
- Supply production lines with materials as needed to support continuous operations.
- Move finished goods to designated storage locations or shipping areas.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Accurately complete inventory transactions and material movement documentation.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory control activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures.
- Assist with general warehouse and production support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous forklift operating experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
- Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification through company training.
- Basic computer and inventory tracking skills preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving equipment.
Work Schedule
This position is scheduled for an 8-hour shift within our 24-hour manufacturing operation. Available shifts include:
- First Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Second Shift: 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
- Third Shift: 12:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Shift assignments are based on operational needs and may be subject to change. Overtime and weekend work may be required.
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing facility and warehouse environment. Employees must comply with all safety requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), and may be exposed to moving machinery, forklift traffic, production equipment, and varying environmental conditions.
